Reading, PA - On the evening of July 30th firefighters on the "D" platoon were alerted for a fire in the 800 block of North 10th Street. Companies began turning-out around 8 p.m. when a dark column of smoke was observed from several blocks away. Engine 9 arrived at Douglass and Market Place with a well-involved pickup truck burning close to a garage. Crews stretched a hose line down the street and hit the fire as it was spreading into the garage. The fire was placed under control about 15 minutes later while the roof and facade of the garage was overhauled. No injuries were reported, the Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
