Millvale, PA - A reported oven fire escalated into a destructive, multi-alarm structure fire early Monday morning, leaving a single-family dwelling uninhabitable and displacing a father and his children.
Shortly before 7:00 a.m. on September 28, 2026, emergency dispatchers struck a first alarm for an active kitchen appliance fire within Millvale Borough. The Millvale engine crew, alongside Truck 260 (Cherry City) and Engine 247 (Berkeley Hills), arrived within minutes to encounter moderate smoke pushing from the building and flames actively breaking through the exterior of the structure on the "A" (front) and "B" (left) sides.
First-arriving personnel executed coordinated tactical operations simultaneously: truck crews raised exterior ground ladders to access upper windows, engine crews advanced and charged attack lines into the interior to halt the spread of the flames, and interior teams initiated rapid primary searches to verify all occupants were safely out.
Firefighters from multiple North Hills mutual aid agencies worked the incident through the morning, carrying out extensive overhaul and hot-spot suppression before the scene cleared shortly before noon.
The resident and his children lost a substantial amount of their personal belongings in the blaze, and the home sustained severe structural and interior damage, rendering it completely uninhabitable. The origin and circumstances surrounding the blaze remain under investigation by the Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office.
