Two residents were injured, one reportedly serious, as fire struck a home on July 3rd.
Units were dispatched at approximately 10:30 PM to 328 Fairmount Ave. for a report of a fire. Units arrived to heavy smoke and flames visible out of a first floor room on the “D” side. Original reports stated the fire may involve an oxygen tank. A working fire was called bringing Teaneck and Englewood to the scene. Two lines were stretched as members removed two occupants who were transferred to EMS for transport.
The flames were quickly extinguished as companies vented and checked for extension. Bogota Engine 1 was requested at the scene. No extension was found beyond the original fire room. One firefighter was also transported with non-life threatening injuries. Hackensack Fire Prevention is investigating, but the fire is initially not considered suspicious.
