Capehart Mill in Norwich Burns for Second Time in 6 Weeks

NORWICH, CT - At 5:15 A.M. on Friday, July 8th, the Norwich FD was dispatched to the Capehart Mill at 387 North Main Street for a structure fire. Engine 2 transmitted the working fire at 5:17 A.M. and laid five-inch and three-inch lines down 5th Street, which fed Truck 1 and a blitz fire. A second-alarm was called which added Taftville Truck 25, Engine 21, Yantic Engine 33, Laurel Hill Engine 62, East Great Plain Ladder 5 & Rescue 5 as well as Laurel Hill Engine 62. Engine 33 laid a supply line from Central Ave. into Engine 21 which pumped water to Truck 25. Crews fought the fire defensively for a couple of hours. The Mohegan Tribal FD provided the FAST while American Ambulance stood by. The Norwich Police and Fire Marshal's Office are investigating.
