On June 12, 2025, members of the Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company #1 rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on training drill focused on vehicle rollovers and rescue operations.

Firefighters trained on vehicle stabilization techniques using ParaTech struts and a Grip Hoist—essential tools for securing vehicles in dangerous positions and performing heavy rescues. These training evolutions were led by Assistant Chief Craig Thompson and Captain Brandon Zonge, who walked crews through real-world scenarios designed to sharpen response skills and improve safety under pressure.

Thanks to vehicles generously donated by Matt Portnoy and Sons Auto Recycling, members had the opportunity to train on lifelike wreck conditions.

This drill is just one example of how your Cardiff volunteers continue to train hard—day or night—to protect and serve the residents of Egg Harbor Township.
