On the evening of June 1st, just after 1900 hours, Allamuchy Fire Department was dispatched to a serious tractor trailer rollover on Interstate 80 westbound at mile marker 18.0. Rescue 91-75 and Rescue 91-74 responded to the scene. The truck, hauling construction debris from Brooklyn, NY, had flipped, spilling its load and requiring an extended operation that kept crews working until 2200 hours.
As firefighters were just clearing the highway, a second emergency came in—a vehicle had gone off the road and into the water on Rydell Road. Engine 91-61, Rescue 91-75, and Rescue 91-74 jumped into action once again. Thankfully, the occupants suffered only minor injuries, and all units were clear of the scene by 2315 hours.
This double-header response wrapped up a particularly busy month for Allamuchy’s volunteers, with 41 calls for service in May alone.
