At 2:46 AM on June 11, 2025, crews from Bargaintown and Cardiff Volunteer Fire Companies were dispatched to the 5000 block of Ridge Avenue for a structure fire. Cardiff’s Tower 15, Rescue 1517, and Engine 1512 responded, along with Bargaintown units.

Firefighters arrived to find a two-story home with heavy fire showing from the second floor. All occupants had evacuated safely. Mutual aid was requested from Scullville, Farmington, and Northfield City Fire Companies.

One resident and one Cardiff firefighter were treated for injuries by the EHT Rescue Squad. The home was declared uninhabitable. EHT Fire Investigations Bureau is handling the cause.

Crews operated for over four hours, with other Atlantic County departments covering local stations. Bargaintown Chief Gene Sharpe served as incident commander.
