Passerby Rescues Wheelchair-Bound Man from House Fire in Franklin

Franklin, VT - On June 26th, a passerby on Main Street in Franklin noticed a house on fire and quickly alerted the Franklin Fire Department. Before firefighters arrived, the passerby got help and rescued a wheelchair-bound man from the burning structure.
Franklin Fire Department along with First Response and Enosburg Ambulance Service, and mutual aid from Highate and Enosburg Fire Departments responded to the house fire, which was located about a quarter of a mile from the Franklin Fire Station. Crews on scene were hampered by a venting propane tank, but were able to quickly bring the fire under control.
The house was considered a total loss. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
