House Goes Up in Flames in Mastic Beach on Memorial Day

MASTIC BEACH, NY - On May 29th at about 5:45 P.M., the Mastic Beach Fire Department was activated for a reported house fire on Jefferson Dr., near Phyllis Dr. Mastic Beach Ambulance was also activated to stand by at the structure fire.
Mastic Beach FD Chiefs Jeff McGown and Roy Arcuri responded to the scene. Fire Com advised the chiefs that they had two calls that came in, and that Mastic Beach Ambulance 1st Responder advised they had smoke showing. On arrival, flames were coming from the roof of a single-story home and the chief transmitted the working fire and mutual aid was requested to respond to the scene.
The first due engine crews quickly began to stretch lines and also secured a positive water supply from the hydrant. Firefighters went to work attacking the main body of fire. A saw as well as other tools were also needed in order to remove boards from the home to gain access.
Firefighters were able to make a quick knock down and no injuries were reported. Firefighters and EMS remained on scene for about 45-50 minutes. The Mastic Beach Fire Department was assisted by neighboring departments including Mastic, Center Moriches and Manorville. Mastic Beach Ambulance and Mastic Ambulance stood by at the scene.
