Norwalk, CT - The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a sailboat fire near Belle Island in Long Island Sound after flames heavily involved the vessel's stern.

All occupants were safely removed from the boat by the Norwalk Police Marine Division before firefighters began suppression efforts. Marine firefighters attacked the blaze from the water, with additional assistance provided by neighboring marine units.

After the fire was brought under control, the damaged vessel was towed to a local marina, where firefighters conducted final extinguishment operations and checked for remaining hotspots.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshal's Division.
