Kitchen Fire on Cotton Street

Reading, PA - Around lunchtime on Monday, May 18th firefighters on the A platoon were alerted for a box alarm in Southeast Reading. With companies responding, the communications center advised they were receiving calls reporting smoke showing at 1017 Cotton Street. Engine 1 arrived at a two-story EOR with smoke showing. Firefighters stretched a line into the dwelling and located fire throughout the kitchen. While crews searched the home the fire was found to have extended to the second floor. A second line was stretched while searches were completed. The fire was knocked down quickly and the incident placed under control in twenty minutes. No injuries were reported, the Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
