Vehicle Found Fully Involved Over Railroad Tracks in Newburgh

NEWBURGH, NY - Middlehope and City of Newburgh fire departments responded to a vehicle off the roadway in the area of North Montgomery Street and Park Place, May 16th. E911 reported that a vehicle had left the area of the nearby railroad tracks on the west side of the Hudson, beneath the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. City, Town, and State Police responded and located the vehicle fully involved over a bank north of Pamela's on the Hudson restaurant. Firefighters stretched hose lines up the railroad tracks and started putting the car fire out, as well as a semi-large brush fire that started due to the car fire. It was determined that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. Town of Newburgh EMS and Storm King Engine Co. were also at the scene.
