NORTH CAPE MAY, NJ — May 7th — The Townbank Fire Company responded to a reported residential structure fire with potential entrapment in the 600 block of Town Bank Road. When Assistant Chief 61 arrived, the house was emitting a lot of smoke and flames, and there were reports that several people were still inside.
While other firemen carried out searches and ventilation operations, Engine 61 crews launched an internal fire attack. Every individual was verified to have left the building safely during the initial search. A second alarm brought in more personnel from Cape May City and Green Creek due to the severe fire conditions, and Rio Grande served as the Rapid Intervention Crew. For around three and a half hours, firefighters stayed on the site. The inquiry into the fire is still ongoing.
