NORTH CAPE MAY, NJ — April 29th — Townbank Fire Company firefighters arrived at 91 Beach Drive in response to a smoke investigation. When Chief 61 arrived, a detached outbuilding was heavily involved in a fire that was spreading to an adjacent tiki bar. In order to support operations, a working fire assignment sent in extra firefighters from Rio Grande, Erma, Villas, and Cape May.

The fire was swiftly restricted to the building of origin by first-arriving units using handlines, limiting damage to a small addition on the tiki bar. Firefighters handled extinguishment and overhaul operations for about three hours. During the event, no injuries were recorded. The Lower Township Police Department, Cape May County Fire Marshal's Office, and Lower Township Bureau of Fire Safety are still investigating the fire.
