Stewartstown, PA — April 5th — Mutual aid organizations and the Eureka Volunteer Fire Department arrived at 49 Mill Street in response to a residential building fire. Within two minutes, Chief 54-1 arrived, took command, and reported that the first floor of a one-and-a-half-story house was completely smoke-filled. While firefighters moved an attack line through Side A, Rescue 54 secured a hydrant water supply; Truck 54 helped with search and ventilation; Engine 61 served as RIT; and Truck 58 checked the basement and secured utilities.
One cat is still missing, but crews found a dog and one cat unhurt. A room-and-contents fire was put out by firefighters in roughly 20 minutes. Other personnel finished the overhaul and ventilation. The building experienced significant smoke damage but is still recoverable, and the incident is regarded as an accident.
