East Prospect, PA — April 12th — Assigned to Division A on an ongoing wildland incident, the Eastern York County FFC MopShots support crew finished a 16-hour operational shift in the home district. To secure containment lines and enhance firefighter safety, seven personnel performed mop-up, hand line construction, and hazard tree felling. With the use of aerial bucket operations, crews were able to contain and retain a two-acre slopover that had overrun control lines.

To stop the spread, ground staff strengthened lines and dealt with hot areas. The removal of dangerous trees contributed to the preservation of operational efficiency and safe access. During wildland disasters, especially during the mop-up and containment phases, extended shifts and coordinated ground and aerial work are typical. The operation demonstrates the need of support teams in calming fire conditions as well as ongoing interagency coordination.
