FALMOUTH, MA - On April 23rd, Mashpee Fire had a working fire and Falmouth Engine 25 went to assist. While there, a call for a house fire at 20 Crosby Lane was received. Engine 25 would have been first due, but instead Engine 21 from downtown was. In addition, Engine 23, Engine 410 from Joint Base Cape Cod, Ambulance 37 and Ladder 26 responded. Heavy smoke was showing and high winds fanned the fire. Ladder 26, which was brand new, was on its first run but because of difficult access it was not utilized. A second-alarm was transmitted and Cotuit Engine 236 and Bourne Engine 125 responded. The house was a total loss.
