Lobster Boat Fire Contained at Westport Town Docks

Westport, Mass. — September 14, 2026 — Late Monday night, firefighters rushed to a fire aboard a lobster boat at the Westport Town Docks after flames were reported near the Harbor Master’s shack.
The Westport Fire Department was called around 11:19 p.m. and arrived to find the lobster boat’s wheelhouse heavily engulfed in flames. Firefighters swiftly extinguished the flames and confined the fire to the vessel.
The fire remained contained and did not reach nearby ships or the dock; officials also confirmed no spill into the Westport River. The department’s released information indicated no injuries.
The fire is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Fire Investigation Unit. Authorities stated that the fire is not regarded as suspicious at this time. The cause had not yet been disclosed.
