Regional Training in Rangeley Enhances Wildland and Fire Behavior Skills

Rangeley, ME - Rangeley Fire Rescue hosted a comprehensive training session for area firefighters, bringing together members from Eustis, Phillips, Rangeley, and Wilson’s Mills.


Participants engaged in a Maine Forest Service simulation using an interactive sand table, demonstrating wildfire spread based on fuels, terrain, and weather. The hands-on exercise provided valuable insight into fire behavior and decision-making during wildland incidents.


Simultaneously, a fire behavior and Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) class was conducted using the department’s Max Fire Box training prop, focusing on reading fire conditions and effectively applying TIC technology in real-world scenarios.


The training highlighted a strong regional commitment to preparedness, with departments working together to strengthen skills and operational readiness.
