Rangeley Crews Responded to Reported Structure Fire

Rangeley, ME — September 17 — Rangeley Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire Thursday morning after a caller reported fire coming from a light fixture inside a building.

The call came in at about 8:30 a.m. A second alarm was requested, bringing mutual aid from the Phillips, Eustis and Strong fire departments. MaineHealth EMS and the Rangeley Police Department were also assigned to the incident.

Rangeley Fire Rescue Car-1 arrived at about 8:34 a.m. and reported no visible smoke or fire from outside the building. Engine 3 arrived shortly afterward, and firefighters began investigating the reported fire.

Crews determined that the fire was electrical and had started in the area of a light fixture. Firefighters shut off power to the affected area, which extinguished the fire.

Incident Command canceled the responding mutual aid companies at about 8:42 a.m. after confirming the fire was out. No injuries were reported, and Rangeley units cleared the scene shortly before 9 a.m.

The response involved several agencies working together through the Franklin County Regional Communications Center. Rangeley Fire Rescue operates from 15 School Street and provides fire protection across the Rangeley area and several surrounding rural communities.

The incident showed the importance of investigating electrical fire reports quickly, even when no exterior signs of fire were visible.
