Inclement Weather Causes Crash in Elsmere

Inclement weather caused a driver to crash into a utility pole in Elsmere Thursday night.

The Elsmere and Selkirk fire departments were dispatched with Delmar Bethlehem EMS, Albany County Paramedics and Bethlehem Police for a car that had crashed into a pole near 435 Feura Bush Rd. on Thursday, April 15, around 8:22 p.m.

Upon arrival of first responders, a 2019 Nissan was discovered in the middle of the roadway.

“Through investigation it was determined that while the vehicle was travelling west on Feura Bush Road, the operator could not see the roadway due to a glare on the road due to the inclement weather,” according to a statement from Bethlehem Police.

The vehicle struck a mailbox as well as a utility pole before coming to a stop in the middle of the road, according to police.

The pole was split at the base and the collision caused front-end damage to the car.

Police say the operator was evaluated on scene by EMS and refused medical treatment.

Feura Bush road was closed in the area for approximately 45 minutes while crews were on scene of the incident.

Once the vehicle was cleared from the road the scene was turned over to National Grid to make the necessary repairs to the damaged pole.
