On March 31, the Avon Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported gas odor at a local school. Firefighters searched the building and discovered a gas leak on the roof.
Crews secured the gas supply and worked with the utility provider to resolve the issue and begin repairs. Students and staff were evacuated as a precaution, while firefighters confirmed the building's safety. There were no illnesses or injuries recorded.
Following that incident, AVFD personnel responded to a two-car motor vehicle collision and a separate fire alarm activation in the town.
