This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a reported house fire on Clinton Avenue on March 6th at 10:32 a.m. When units arrived, they found smoke coming from the gable ends and eaves of a 1.5-story Cape-style home.

Firefighters rapidly stretched a handline through the front door and moved to the rear kitchen area, where the fire was burning and spreading. At the same time, technicians vented the kitchen windows, ran a second line to the floor above to test for extension, and searched the structure. All searches yielded negative results.

The fire was restricted to the first-floor kitchen, although smoke damage was observed throughout the house. The incident displaced one tenant. There were no injuries recorded.

The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is looking into the cause of the fire.
