Mastic FD Handles MedEvac Landing

MASTIC, NY - On Thursday, March 30th at about 5:42 P.M., the Mastic Fire Department was activated for a helicopter landing at the William Floyd High School. Suffolk County Police Aviation was requested by Mastic Ambulance for a patient who was injured in a vehicle crash.  


Under the command of Mastic FD Chiefs Gene Martucci and Steve Januskiewicz, Engines 5-12-1, 5-12-2 and Fire Police 5-12-80 were dispatched to the district office parking lot of the William Floyd High School. The fire department secured the landing zone area along with Suffolk Police 7th Precinct units.


The patient was transported from the scene to the helicopter via Mastic Ambulance company members and evaluated by the flight medic prior to being loaded into the helicopter. The fire department remained on scene until the helicopter took off en route to Stony Brook University Hospital, at which time all units were released.
