Mutual Aid Crews Battle Fully Involved Barn Fire

West Danby, NY — February 28th — Following the dispatch of local firefighters for a structure fire, West Danby Fire and Rescue responded to a reported barn fire in the Town of Newfield. No surrounding structures were in danger, according to the first police officer on the site, who reported a fully engaged barn. Newfield Fire Company firefighters used multiple handlines to contain the fire while mutual assistance teams provided water and labor.


While firemen battled to contain and put out the fire, crews kept the water flowing steadily for around three hours. Mutual aid assistance came from West Danby Fire and Rescue and the Enfield Volunteer Fire Company. Odessa Fire Department provided standby coverage for Newfield during the incident.
