West Danby, NY — February 13th — A reported structure fire on Hornbrook Road in the Town of Danby prompted the response of West Danby Fire and Rescue. When firefighters arrived, they discovered that there was an active fire. Despite the below-freezing weather and snow-covered ground, they started suppression efforts. Operations continued into the evening as crews worked for several hours to confine and put out the fire. Tompkins County's mutual aid agencies helped with scene support, water delivery, and firefighting operations.

Candor Fire Department, Ithaca Fire Department, McLean Fire and Rescue, Newfield Fire Company, Slaterville Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company, Spencer Fire Department, and Varna Volunteer Fire Company were among the agencies. While EMS and the American Red Cross provided on-site assistance, communications were coordinated by the Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response. There were no reported injuries.
