Irvington, NY — February 25th — A suspected gasoline spill in the Village of Irvington prompted the Irvington Volunteer Fire Department to react late at night. During the event, firefighters received assistance from the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services. In order to keep the spilled petroleum from getting to surrounding roads and storm drains, crews closed the area and sought to contain it.
To safely manage the threat and lessen the impact on the environment, firefighters employed absorbent materials and spill control equipment. During the operation, county emergency services officers offered extra assistance and resources. Fuel spills can pose environmental and fire hazards, necessitating a coordinated response and cautious management by qualified responders. Units evacuated the site and resumed operations when the product was contained and the area was rendered safe.
