Briarcliff Manor, NY — March 9th — In the afternoon, the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire at 444 River Road, close to the Metro-North Hudson Line. Within minutes, cars 2053 and 2052 arrived. Car 2053 found a brush fire that was blazing between a home retaining wall and the railroad lines, measuring roughly 100 feet by 20 feet. As the first equipment on the site, Engine 92 extended a handline down the hillside to start extinguishing.

Soon later, Engine 93 showed up to support the operation by securing a hydrant and supplying more water. In less than half an hour, the fire was contained by crews working along the embankment. The village is still protected by the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department, which is entirely volunteer-run.
