Crews Knock Down Vehicle Fire at Elementary School

Herkimer, NY — March 3rd — The East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a car fire at Herkimer Elementary School.
Firefighters responded within minutes of dispatch and quickly brought the fire under control. Before cleaning the scene, crews secured the vehicle and ensured the safety of the surrounding area.
The department also commended the Mohawk Fire Department for responding with a tanker to help with the incident. Officials stated that sustained coordination between adjacent departments ensures speedy and effective emergency responses.
