On March 9, the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company responded to a reported structure fire on State Highway 29 in the town of Broadalbin.
A third-party caller reported what seemed to be a chimney fire, prompting firefighters to respond. Perth Volunteer Fire Company units were also summoned for mutual aid, with law enforcement and Lake Valley EMS contacted.
Upon inquiry, technicians discovered that the problem was caused by a defective pellet stove. Before vacating the scene, firefighters secured the situation and checked that no other hazards existed.
