This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Champlain, NY — 8th March — The Champlain Fire District, located at 11006 Route 9 in Champlain, responded to a flooding issue on Dubois Road in the Perry Mills hamlet early in the morning when water backed up around a frozen culvert due to warm weather and precipitation. The Town of Champlain Highway Department and firefighters collaborated to clear the culvert of high winter ice.

Crews helped the homeowner by pumping water from the cellar and starting the initial cleanup after the water supply was restored. Later that day, firemen in Burlington, Vermont, worked with the National Weather Service and Clinton County Emergency Services to keep an eye out for a potential ice jam in the Great Chazy River close to the USGS river gauge at Perry Mills.
