Champlain, NY — 21st February — During a structure fire reaction in neighboring West Chazy, firefighters from the Champlain Fire District, located at 11006 Route 9 in Champlain, helped with water supply operations. In order to support tanker shuttle operations and ensure a consistent water supply for firefighters on the scene, crews labored in frigid temperatures. While Pumper 146 set up two fill sites using municipal hydrants on Duprey Road and Fiske Road, Tanker 144 made many trips delivering water to the fireground.

To assist the water shuttle, workers also established a second fill site at the Great Chazy River dry hydrant on Duprey Road. When hydrant coverage is restricted, Clinton County's rural communities frequently rely on tanker operations and dry hydrants. During prolonged firefighting operations, these devices aid in maintaining a steady flow of water.
