Kingston, NY — February 10th — Ulster Hose Co. firefighters provided mutual aid to the Sawkill Fire Department in response to a second alarm structure fire. Officers on the scene reported a one-story single-family residence with a fire in the attic and smoke coming from the top. Ulster Hose's Engine 4 arrived on the scene, and workers helped Sawkill firemen with their suppression efforts.
Before starting the overhaul to look for any leftover hot spots, firefighters worked to contain the attic fire and stop it from spreading to other areas of the building. In Ulster County, departments frequently assist one another during working fires and other significant situations. After about 1.5 hours of operation, Ulster Hose units cleared the area and resumed their duties.
