Kingston, NY — February 8th — Firefighters from the Ulster Hose Co., located at 5830 Ulster Ave. in Kingston, New York, responded to an alert that indicated there might be a stove fire in an apartment building. Responding units were informed by dispatch that there was smoke inside the building and that people were leaving.

Car 2 found a working fire in the apartment including a stove, cabinets, and surrounding items even though nothing was visible from the outside. The building's eaves and windows started to leak smoke. Car 1 asked to be assigned to a working fire. While Truck 1 laddered the building and helped with ventilation and searches, Engine 4 extended a handline and secured a water supply. Other workers looked for extensions in the attic and floor above. Empress EMS assessed two residents before releasing them.
