VALDOSTA, GA — January 30th — In order to give children a better understanding of the fire service and public safety careers, Lowndes County Fire Rescue took part in Career Day at Lowndes Middle School. Firefighters discussed their everyday responsibilities, the need for training, and the part emergency responders play in safeguarding people and property.
In addition to learning about basic fire safety and emergency preparedness, students had the opportunity to put on firefighter gear and ask questions. According to officials, outreach initiatives like this promote neighborhood risk reduction and foster public and first responder confidence. The department is still concentrating on young involvement, recruiting, and education. Events like Career Day promote interest in future careers in emergency services while bolstering relationships with nearby schools.
