Residents Escape Two-Alarm Structure Fire in City of Newburgh

NEWBURGH, NY - City of Newburgh Fire Dept. responded to 87 City Terrace for an alarm of fire at 2:15 A.M. on the morning of February 26th. Units arrived and found the third floor fully involved.
Car 4 transmitted a second-alarm, bringing West Point and Air National Guard Fire Departments to the scene. Firefighters used hand lines and ground ladders to access the fire, as well as a ladder truck that operated on the roof of the building. The fire was decalred under control 50 minutes later.
Occupants of the building were able to escape safely. City of Newburgh Police and Mobile Life ALS were at the scene. Central Hudson was called for a power cut and City of Newburgh FD's cause/origin investigators were also called to the scene. Coldenham and Castle Point Fire Departments stood by at the Public Saftey Building during the incident. The fire is currently under investigation.
