Hopkins, Thomas Among Top Honorees

WEST MANATEE, FL — February 23: During its annual awards and recognition ceremony, the West Manatee Fire and Rescue District honored members for their service, accomplishments, and promotions. Department officials emphasized the devotion and professionalism demonstrated by employees throughout the year.

Officer of the Year was Paul Hopkins, while Firefighter of the Year went to William Thomas. Matthew Joseph was named Rookie of the Year, while Joshua Adkins got the Soteria Award. Members were also recognized for milestones in years of service ranging from one to thirty years. Several firefighters were honored with Phoenix Awards for their contributions to saving lives, and a Unit Citation was given for collaboration and coordinated reaction. The department also announced promotions, with David Miller moving up to First Class Firefighter and Matthew Joseph to Third Class Firefighter. Officials praised all winners for their commitment to public safety.
