On February 17, at around 2:07 a.m., Tallahassee Fire Department units responded to a reported residential structure fire on Jefferson Road. When firefighters arrived, they found considerable smoke and flames coming from the kitchen of a single-wide mobile home. One of the occupants had escaped before emergency crews arrived.
Firefighters used hose lines and launched an intensive interior attack to rapidly bring the fire under control. Crews conducted both main and secondary searches to ensure there were no additional inhabitants within the home. There were no pets reported in the home. The structure was considered to be a complete loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The American Red Cross was notified to aid the displaced resident. The Leon County Sheriff's Office, Leon County EMS, and Chaires-Capitola Volunteer Fire Department all aided the Tallahassee Fire Department.
