94-Acre Brush Fire Contained Near Eustis

EUSTIS, FL — February 11th —The Eustis Fire Department, together with Lake County Fire Rescue, Mount Dora Fire Department, and the Florida Forest Service, responded to a brush fire near County Road 44A. The fire threatened surrounding properties, causing the evacuation of many homes in the neighborhood.

Crews collaborated to safeguard exposures and control the fire. The Lake County Sheriff's Office used drone technology to track fire activity and boost situational awareness. Firefighters remained on the site to ensure that the fire was completely contained and to keep an eye out for hotspots. Officials reported the fire burned approximately 94 acres and is now 100 percent contained. The Eustis Fire Department reminds residents to avoid outdoor burning during dry conditions and to call 9-1-1 if a fire begins to spread or becomes uncontrolled.
