January 17, 2026 — Eustis Fire Department, which trains twice each month, completed two sessions focused on snowmobile crash response and patient packaging.
During the final training in December, members of Eustis Fire and Carrabassett Valley Fire Department met in a classroom setting to review proper techniques for packaging and transporting an injured snowmobile rider.
The first training of January expanded into a full-scale, multi-agency exercise. A simulated snowmobile crash was staged in Carrabassett Valley, allowing crews to practice coordinated response and scene management in winter conditions.
Participating agencies included Eustis Maine Fire Department, Carrabassett Valley Fire Department, Maine Forest Rangers, and the Maine Game Warden Service. The live training emphasized teamwork, communication, and efficient patient care in remote, snow-covered terrain.
