SUMTER COUNTY, FL — February 11th — Sumter County Fire & EMS reminds people that the county remains under an Outdoor Burning Restriction due to the current dry conditions. Since the burn ban was implemented on January 29th, personnel have reacted to over 50 outdoor fires in just 13 days, illustrating the increased risk of fast-moving wildfires.
According to officials, the limitation forbids all outdoor burning, including yard garbage, campfires, bonfires, agricultural and silvicultural burns, and pile burning, unless permitted by the Florida Forest Service. During this period, no fireworks, flares, or similar things may be used or discharged.
