COLLINS, GA — February 14th — In the vicinity of Cobbtown and Lynn Town, the Collins Volunteer Fire Department/Station 3, located at 320 NW Main Street, responded to consecutive brush fires. Crews started suppression efforts after being sent to various instances involving active grass fires. In order to confine both flames and stop them from spreading to surrounding homes and properties, firefighters set up control lines, deployed hand lines, and spoke with other agencies.
Both situations were brought under control, and no injuries were reported. The region's risk of wildland fires is still rising due to recent dry and windy conditions. To assist safeguard nearby neighborhoods, the department advises citizens to report uncontrolled burns as soon as possible, exercise caution while burning outside, and adhere to local burn regulations.
