COLLINS, GA — February 2nd — A reported brush and chicken coop fire on Jink Lanier Road prompted the response of several organizations, including the Collins Volunteer Fire Department/Station 3, located at 320 NW Main Street. When the first units got there, they discovered a vegetation fire that had spread to a poultry building, so they started suppressing it.

Tattnall County Fire, Cobbtown Fire, Reidsville Fire, State Prison Fire, and the Georgia Forestry Commission were among the agencies that provided assistance. To restrict the fire and safeguard adjacent properties and exposures, crews set up control lines, deployed hand lines, and worked with forestry resources. There were no reported injuries. To finish the overhaul and keep an eye out for hotspots, firefighters stayed on the scene. The event made clear how crucial it is to coordinate responses and provide mutual aid during wildland and rural fire events.
