JACKSONVILLE, FL — January 28th —The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department observed Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month, emphasizing the significance of health and wellbeing for emergency responders. Officials stated that firefighters encounter specific occupational exposures throughout their careers, making constant risk-reduction efforts critical.
The department advised members to follow safety precautions such as the "Clean 15," which include donning protective equipment, washing gear, and maintaining excellent hygiene following an incident. These activities are intended to decrease exposure to hazardous pollutants and promote long-term health.
