Brush Fire Stopped at Five Acres in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FL — January 23rd —Crews from Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and the Florida Forest Service responded to a brush fire off Cedar Point Road that was believed to be five acres in size. Firefighters worked with state partners to halt further advance and build containment lines around the situation. The Cedar Point Fire was brought to 99 percent containment after personnel concluded mop-up operations and treated residual hot areas. Firefighters also improved containment lines to decrease the possibility of rekindling the fire before handing over responsibility to the Florida Forest Service for continuous monitoring.
