Heating Pad Blamed for Baldwin County Fire

BALDWIN COUNTY, GA — February 6th — Baldwin County Fire Rescue confirmed that a recent residential structure fire on North Jefferson Street was unintentional. According to the Baldwin County Fire Investigator, the fire is thought to have started when a heating pad was left on beneath the sheets of a bed.
Officials stated that no significant injuries were reported. The incident serves as a reminder that everyday household goods might cause fires if not utilized correctly. According to firefighters, heating pads should never be used while sleeping and should not be placed on mattresses, couches, or other soft surfaces where heat can accumulate and ignite materials. Residents should also switch off and unplug heating pads when not in use, avoid using defective or old devices, and adhere to manufacturer instructions. Baldwin County Fire Rescue urged the public to submit safety tips to help eliminate preventable fires in the neighborhood.
