PLAINFIELD, CT — January 21st — The four Plainfield Fire Departments participated in a collaborative training session on electric car fire tactics at the Atwood Hose Fire Company, located at 24 Wauregan Road. The National Fire Protection Research Foundation's most recent studies on battery risks, thermal runaway, and prolonged cooling operations were assessed by the program.
In addition to discussing water application, scene safety, and methods to lower re-ignition hazards, Chief Duval provided important findings. Firefighters also talked about issues like the requirement for coordinated mutual aid and restricted battery access. According to officials, the increasing number of electric vehicles need robust regional collaboration and updated training. The training improved operational readiness and made sure that firemen are equipped to handle electric car events in Plainfield and the neighboring municipalities in a safe and efficient manner.
