Quick Response Limits Damage in Rochester Structure Fire

On February 3, the Rochester NH Fire Department responded to a complaint of a detached garage fire at 651 Salmon Falls Road. Rochester Public Safety Dispatch received the call at 5:30 p.m., and Engine 4 arrived to find significant black smoke. Crews discovered a totally engulfed single-story, three-car garage, with fire threatening an adjacent home, pickup truck, and enclosed trailer.
Firefighters deployed handlines to protect exposed areas and began suppression. A water supply was established using a long line laid from a hydrant, and mutual assistance crews assisted firefighting operations. Companies from Dover, Somersworth, Berwick, and Farmington assisted on the scene. Milton and Barrington provided station coverage alongside off-duty Rochester firefighters.The fire was placed under control in about 25 minutes. No civilians were injured. One firefighter was treated and released on scene. The cause remains under investigation and is not considered suspicious.
