On February 10, 2026, the Old Saybrook Fire Department’s Rapid Intervention Team responded mutual aid to Deep River for a reported barn fire off Route 80 at 7:58 p.m. Firefighters worked alongside crews from several Valley Shore towns to bring the blaze under control and extinguish the fire. Earlier in the day, Old Saybrook firefighters were dispatched at 3:50 p.m. to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Main Street and Route 1, where crews assessed the scene and ensured the safety of those involved. Later, at 4:28 p.m., the department responded to a residential fire alarm at a home off Maple Avenue. Crews investigated and managed the situation before returning to service. The series of responses underscores the department’s readiness to assist neighboring communities while continuing to protect residents at home.
