March 20, 2026 — Stratford Fire Department crews responded to a commercial structure fire at 955 Ferry Boulevard after multiple 911 calls reported smoke and flames coming from the building. Dispatched at approximately 12:46 PM, all on-duty units arrived to find an active fire within the occupancy and immediately initiated simultaneous search and suppression operations.
Firefighters worked quickly to locate and extinguish the source of the fire while ensuring the safety of any occupants. An activated sprinkler system played a key role in limiting the spread of the fire, allowing crews to bring the incident under control within approximately 35 minutes. There was no extension to adjacent structures, and no additional damage was reported beyond the affected area. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Stratford Fire Marshal’s Office. Bridgeport and Milford Fire Departments provided station coverage during the incident, while Stratford EMS assisted on scene.
Fire officials remind residents and business owners to maintain working smoke detectors, practice escape plans, and call 911 immediately upon discovering smoke or fire.
